The honest answer is that it depends on the businesses you refer. A partner who refers ten mid-sized restaurants (each doing ~$60K/month in card volume) will earn roughly $7,200/year on the Affiliate tier — recurring. Some of our most active partners earn over $50K/year in pure residuals. The calculator above isn't aspirational — it's the actual math we use. Plug in your real numbers.
Referral is a one-time bounty per signed merchant — best for people who occasionally send warm intros. Affiliate adds ongoing monthly residuals on processed volume — best for people who refer regularly. ISO Partner is for serious resellers — higher residual rates, dedicated rep, white-label option. You can start as Referral and upgrade later. There's no penalty for picking the "wrong" tier upfront.
No. Most partners simply send us a warm intro — name, business, what they're looking for — and our team handles the demo, the quote, the contract, and the installation. You stay involved if you want to (we'll loop you in on every email), or you can hand it off completely and just watch the residual show up on the 15th.
You keep what you've already earned — we don't claw back past residuals if a merchant leaves. The residual stream for that specific merchant simply ends. For Affiliate tier, residuals run for 60 months from signing (whether the merchant stays or not, processing volume drives the actual payout). For ISO tier, residuals are lifetime.
For Referral tier, no contract — just a simple e-sign acknowledging the bounty structure. For Affiliate and ISO, there's a partnership agreement covering rates, residuals, and conduct. None of our agreements include exclusivity clauses — you can partner with other payment companies too if it makes sense for your business.
Bounties pay within 14 days of the merchant going live (their first real transaction). Residuals start the following month — accumulated from their first day of processing and deposited on the 15th. You'll see everything on your partner dashboard as it happens.
Great POS currently serves Canadian businesses only. Referrals outside Canada can't be onboarded onto our platform yet. If you have a US business that wants Clover, we'll happily refer them to a US Clover partner of our own — and split a finder's fee with you when they sign there.
